Meet the Fourth Round

david bakhtiari The Packers picked up two tackles and a slick little running back in the fourth round, addressing a need for depth up front and speed in the backfield. Here's what you should know about the three fourth round additions.

David Bakhtiari - OT - Colorado (6'4", 300 lbs.) (Twitter: @DBak59)

Strengths

  • Has long arms and good overall weight distribution. (CBS Sports)
  • Shows some nastiness to his game, looking to knock defenders to the ground when he can. (CBS Sports)
  • Can really get after it, an attacker rather than a passive blocker. (NFL.com)

Weaknesses

  • May lack the elite combination of height and foot speed to handle edge rushers in the NFL, though he appears well suited to simply sliding inside to left guard. (CBS Sports)
  • Move to guard likely in his future. (NFL.com

J.C. Tretter - OT - Cornell (6'4", 307 lbs.) (Twitter: @JCTretter)

Strengths

  • An ascending talent who is just scratching the surface of his potential. (CBS Sports)
  • Athletic build. Possess light feet, and has the athletic ability to mirror pass rushers. (NFL.com)

Weaknesses

  • Likely will be asked to make the transition inside, as he possesses shorter than ideal arms (32.25 inches) and, while quick against Ivy League defenders, does not possess the foot speed to handle NFL edge rushers. (CBS Sports)
  • Will likely have to move to guard, due to a lack of length. (NFL.com)

Johnathan Franklin - RB - UCLA (5'10", 205 lbs.) (Twitter: @JFrank2008)

Strengths

  • Franklin boasts NFL-caliber speed and the ability to make defenders miss in tight quarters. (CBS Sports)
  • He's affectionately been nicknamed "Jetski" by some on the team due to his ability to leave defenders in his wake. (CBS Sports)
  • One cut type of runner, who has impressive foot quickness, and the ability to explode out of his cuts. (NFL.com)
  • Runs hard, behind his pads, and displays good balance. (NFL.com)

Weaknesses

  •  He fumbled three times in a five game stretch last year and it has been a sporadic problem going back earlier in his career. (CBS Sports)
  •  Won’t overpower NFL defenders with the leaner build that lets them regularly trip him up on first contact. (NFL.com)
  • Pass protection skills are not up to snuff; he’ll throw his body into an opponent at times, but his cut-block attempts often come up completely empty. (NFL.com)
