CB Makinton Dorleant Arrested Saturday in Iowa
Packers cornerback Makinton Dorleant was arrested Saturday night in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
According to KWWL, Dorleant and Bears cornerback Deiondre Hall arrested together. Hall was cited for disorderly conduct, public intoxication and interference, while Dorleant was cited for interference. The two were teammates at Northern Iowa.
The incident occurred after police were called after a bouncer at a local bar tried to remove people because of a fight inside.
Hall had to be tased by police, witnesses told KWWL. The bouncer told police he was assaulted.
Dorleant was signed to the Packers as an undrafted free agent last offseason, and played well in the preseason. At the time, Green Bay had an overflow of quality cornerbacks and Dorleant found himself on injured reserve with a hamstring injury suffered in the fourth and final exhibition game.
He was activated from injured reserve late in the season, and he played moderately well in four games before suffering another injury against the Detroit Lions in the season finale. He holds the unique distinction of being the first Packers player to be placed on injured reserve twice in the same season.
It’s unclear exactly what Dorleant’s role on the team will be in 2017, but he is expected to compete for a spot in the Packers secondary.
Former teammate T.J. Lang stood up for Dorleant late Sunday night:
Recent Packers arrest history
It’s been just over two months since the last time a Packers player faced charges. In January, cornerback Sam Shields was charged with a misdemeanour marijuana possession from an October 2016 incident. Shields was released on February 8th.
Wide receiver Geronimo Allison was also cited for marijuana possession after a September traffic stop, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Michael Cohen.
Before that, former tight end Andrew Quarless was arrested after firing a gun in public in Miami Beach in July 2015.
