How Will DT Montravius Adams Help the Packers?

The Packers have done their darndest to get bigger and generally more athletic on defense, and Adams ticks both of those boxes as well. That’s not all he brings to the table, though. Here’s how he helps the Packers.

Versatility

Versatility is proving to be the Packers’ most sought after attribute in this particular draft. Every player they’ve selected so far can line up at more than one position, and Adams is no exception. Scouts have praised his ability to line up at multiple defensive line spots, even if he doesn’t always produce consistently at those spots.

Size

Christian Ringo spent all of last season on the 53-man roster in hopes he’d turn into Mike Daniels Lite. With the additions of Ricky Jean Francois and now Adams, it’s hard to believe a player with Ringo’s physical attributes will have a chance in Green Bay in the near future.

Depth and Upside

Jean Francois and (if he’s on the roster) Letroy Guion will likely line up ahead of Adams, but Adams will be asked to contribute as a rotational lineman early on. Athletic depth from Adams will be important.

And while Adams may not be on the level of Jean Francois or Guion right away, he has the physical abilities to surpass them in the long run. If the Packers can harness his prodigious physical gifts, Adams could be a great addition to the defensive line.
