Geronimo Allison has an awesome name and is a stringy – yet smooth – wide receiver. When the Packers receiving corps was thinned during the tail end of last season, Allison became one of Aaron Rodgers’ top weapons.

Allison served a one game suspension to begin the season and instantly provided a spark to the Packers offense.

His season featured plays that will undoubtedly be remembered as both the best and worst from the 2017 season.

Packers 2016 Recap: WR Geronimo Allison – Allison was a key contributor during Green Bay's postseason run. He was targeted eight times, grabbing five passes for 65 yards while nursing a hamstring injury. Alongside the breakout season from Davante Adams, Geronimo Allison figures to be a big part of the Packers offense in 2017. His soft hands and smooth route running ability gives Aaron Rodgers yet another talented weapon.

Analysis: Incredible highs and painful lows for Geronimo

Allison provided one of the season’s highlights in a Week 3 tilt against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals have been a thorn in the sides of both head coach Mike McCarthy and quarterback Aaron Rodgers, as the Packers’ duo had been unable to beat Cincinnati in two tries.

The third time's the charm, however. When Green Bay took the field with just over seven minutes left in overtime, Rodgers found Allison open and delivered a perfect strike. Allison did the rest, weaving in and out of defenders to set Mason Crosby up for a game-winning field goal.

Unfortunately, the Bengals game proved to be the highlight of the season and not a glimpse of what was to come for the second-year wide receiver. His 122 receiving yards in Week 3 would represent about half of his season’s total.

His limited production was likely more of a product of how Brett Hundley distributed his passes and less about how the Packers played offense without Aaron Rodgers. As the fourth wide receiver, Allison saw Green Bay run four or more wide receivers with Hundley the same amount as they did with Rodgers last season.

The lowest point of Allison’s season came when Rodgers returned from injury late in the season against the Carolina Panthers. Rodgers was leading the team towards a potential game-tying touchdown with two minutes remaining, and found Allison for a first down inside Carolina’s 30 yard-line.

Disaster struck, as Allison fumbled the ball away and the Panthers recovered. The game, and Green Bay’s postseason hopes, were stripped. Rodgers would not play another snap the rest of the season, and the team would lose the next two games to division rivals.
