How We Helped Packers TE Tom Crabtree Change His Profile Picture

There comes a moment in every blog’s life when you have a moment to affect real change.

We here at The Power Sweep have reached our moment, and allow us to say that the view from the summit is tremendous.

As you know, our mission here is to help our readers become smarter Packers fans, because smarter Packers fans are better Packers fans. Our mission takes us to the ends of the internet, and yesterday it took us to Pro Football Reference.

Packers TE Tom Crabtree: A brief history

Tight end Tom Crabtree entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2009, and spent that summer in camp with the Kansas City Chiefs. When the Chiefs cut Crabtree at the end of camp, he caught on with the Packers as a member of their practice squad for the final five weeks of the season.

Crabtree came back to Green Bay for the 2010 season and beat out rookie Andrew Quarless as the team’s third-string tight end. The Packers would win Super Bowl XLV that season, and Crabtree’s touchdown reception in a playoff game against the Eagles was his first career score.

The tight end would spend the next two seasons with the team before signing a two-year deal in 2013 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Crabtree retired from the league in 2015.

Given his illustrious career with the Packers, why then did the notoriously excellent and blameless football statistics website Pro Football Reference adore their Tom Crabtree page with a photo of the tight end in a Buccaneers jersey?

Pro Football Reference responds, and Tom Crabtree gets involved

It didn’t take long for Pro Football Reference’s twitter account to respond, hat in hand.

From there, Crabtree himself chimed in and provided a selfie.

Pro Football Reference must have a really good legal team.
