The Five: Jared Abbrederis, Week 1 At Jacksonville

Score: 58

With few opportunities to stand out, Jared Abbrederis was forced to find creative ways to impact Sunday’s game. If you were looking for the Altoma, Wisconsin native during the broadcast, you most likely noticed him three times: on an 8 yard reception from Rodgers and covering two Jacob Schum punts.

We breakdown The Five's scoring system here.

What Went Right

Abbrederis made his way onto the stat sheet despite playing only 14 offensive snaps, the second fewest among wide receivers (Ty Montgomery had the fewest with 11). His short 8 yard completion in the third quarter was significant, as all four receivers were open and Rodgers chose to throw towards the young receiver. His performance covering punts was up and down, though he did force a fair catch on Schum’s second punt of the game.

What Went Wrong

The Packers continue to favor a three wide receiver formation with Nelson, Cobb and Adams. Despite a sweltering September heat, opportunities on offense for Abbrederis were limited to four and five wide out sets. As a gunner on punt coverage, he was flattened on the first punt by top pick Jalen Ramsey.

Trending: Steady

With limited snaps in week one, the trend on Abbrederis continues to hold steady. It appears his only path to the field is in four or five wide out positions, or if Randall Cobb is injured or needs a breather in the slot. He continues to make the active roster as a result of his solid special teams play.
