Tight ends! The Packers need one at least, and may need two. Fortunately, there is an abundance of talent at the position in this year’s draft.

The Packers have a clear need at tight end, but what kind of tight end do they need? That seems like a simple question, but filling out the depth chart probably isn’t quite so simple as just taking a guy and hoping for the best. First, we have to discuss what kind of different roles this year’s tight end class could fill and how we identify a good tight end.

Top 100 tight ends in the 2023 NFL Draft (8:16)

Six tight ends appear among the top 100 players on the Consensus Mock Draft Big Board. They are as follows:

  • Michael Mayer - Notre Dame (25)

  • Dalton Kincaid - Utah (28)

  • Darnell Washington - Georgia (30)

  • Luke Musgrave - Oregon State (48)

  • Sam LaPorta - Iowa (58)

  • Tucker Kraft - South Dakota State (68)
