Analysis: Chris Banjo’s Green Bay tenure ends like it began
Chris Banjo was always a long shot. The Packers were already his second NFL team when the signed him in July of 2013, and found himself needing to make up a lot of ground to even get a crack at the roster. He managed to do so, and was the benefit of plenty of mistakes from other more experienced players, which opened the door to his ultimate success.
Unfortunately, it’s the same sort of thing that led to his departure from Green Bay. Though poised to be a special teams contributor again this year, injuries sidelined Banjo late in training camp, and the presence of other young players on the roster made him expendable. The Packers released Banjo after agreeing to an injury settlement, and although he signed on with New Orleans later in the season, he didn’t make a significant impact there.
