Best Look, Worst Look - NFC North
Welcome to a series I've been promising (threatening?) to do for a while now in our Discord server. Over the next few weeks, I'm going to go through every division in the NFL and weigh in on what I think are each team's best and worst uniforms.
Here are a couple of ground rules:
1 - The uniforms have to have appeared in a game. A lot of teams have so many different possible combinations of uniforms that they haven't used them all yet, so we're going to restrict our discussion just to ones that have actually appeared on the field.
2 - Alternate uniforms are fair game, but throwbacks are not. A lot of throwbacks end up looking pretty wacky, and there are a lot of different reasons. Generally, old-school uniforms weren't designed with modern equipment or style trends in mind, so they'll end up distorted just to fit in with the way things are today. For those reasons, we're going to issue a blanket ban on throwbacks, even though there are some really good-looking throwbacks out there.
Let's get started with the NFC North.
Green Bay Packers
Pretty simple here! The Packers' uniforms have existed largely unchanged since the Vince Lombardi era. Their standard green uniforms are the strength of their set; the contrast between the iconic green and gold is perfect, and the white numbers really pop.
The whites don't quite do it for me, though. The gold pants look too yellow up against the white, and the inverted sleeve stripes have never quite worked for me. Still, the "worst" look for the Packers is still miles ahead of some teams' best looks.
