Best Look/Worst Look - NFC East Edition
Welcome back to Best Look, Worst Look, the series where I definitively rule on every team’s best and worst uniform combinations.
Last week we touched on the NFC North. Today we’re visiting the NFC East, home of a bevy of historic teams and, honestly, some pretty uninspiring uniforms.
As a refresher, are a couple of ground rules for this exercise.
1 - The uniforms have to have appeared in a game. No concepts or yet-to-be-worn combinations. (A mild tweak here: the uniforms have to be a part of a team’s current uniform rotation. If they’ve discontinued a particular set (something that’s especially relevant in the NFC East, as we’ll soon learn), they’re not going to be a part of our conversation.
2 - Alternates are okay, but no throwbacks. Throwbacks can be some of the best and worst looking uniforms out there, but they’re generally designed with such specific parameters in mind that they’re almost too unique to consider here. We may do a future series on throwbacks.
On to the NFC East!
Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys are at their best when they’re at home. Their white over silver/blue combo is what comes to mind when I think of the Dallas Cowboys, and they’ve only improved that uniform set since they discontinued the horrendous seafoam green pants. Good riddance!
With that in mind, I think it’s easy for me to conclude that the Cowboys are at their worst when they are as far distanced from the white over blue/silver look as possible, and we saw that in their playoff win over the Buccaneers last year. Tampa went with white at home, forcing the Cowboys into their little-used navy blue tops. They then made the very questionable decision to use white pants instead of their typical silver. It all just looks very un-Cowboy like.
