Packers CB Herb Waters to Miss Season
Packers cornerback Herb Waters will miss the entire 2017 season with a shoulder injury.
The second year corner out of Miami was injured in the first practice of training camp and never returned to the field.
Pro Football Talk first broke the news.
Waters originally joined the Packers as a wide receiver, but switched to corner during his rookie season.
At 6-0 and 188 pounds, Waters had good size for the position, and cornerbacks coach Joe Whitt Jr. liked what he saw early on, even comparing him to Tramon Williams, another former undrafted free agent cornerback.
Next steps for Waters
This may not be the end for Waters, though. It’s possible the Packers could choose to keep him on injured reserve this season and give him another shot next year.
A trip to injured reserve wouldn’t necessarily tie the Packers up long term either. Payers are routinely waived from injured reserve, so that move could give the Packers some flexibility when determining the way forward.
