Fire Jeff Hafley!

Packers’ defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley has had it too good for too long. He needs to go, and the time is now.

I don’t care if they just hired him, he needs to be fired. That’s why we’re launching FireJeffHafley.com. Fire Jeff Hafley!

It’s time to fire Jeff Hafley and that’s why you need to visit FireJeffHafley.com as soon as you can!

If you’re reading this far, this is where I tell you that I don’t actually want to fire Jeff Hafley. I think he seems to be a pretty good and interesting hire! If you’re looking for the anti-Joe Barry, he seems like he fits the bill. I had quite a bit to say about him on this episode of Blue 58. Check it out!

So why bother creating a website about firing Jeff Hafley? Well, I figured sooner or later, someone was going to, so it might as well be me. And as I wrote on FireJeffHafley.com (really just a page on this site, but you get it), sooner or later the time might come for him to be fired. But if that day comes, I want to have context for why it’s a good or bad choice, so I’ve gone ahead and put together some comparisons between Hafley and all of the Packers’ previous coordinators of the 21st century. If we’re going to fire all these other guys, we should at least have some reasonable comparisons for how Jeff Hafley stacks up.

The process of creating that context and building those comparisons will take some time, but we might as well start today. My genuine hope is that Hafley is the Packers’ defensive coordinator in perpetuity, leading them to innumerable Super Bowl championships before deciding to either retire, take a head coaching gig somewhere, or, I don’t know, ascend beyond the material plane.

But in the meantime, I figured that learning a little bit about the men who preceded him in this gig would never be a bad thing. Visit FireJeffHafley.com for more details about the Packers’ previous defensive coordinators, and check back in throughout the Hafley era to see how he compares.
