Analysis: A high-motor special teamer, Tripp deserves another look

The second of two late-season acquisitions from Seattle, Tripp’s role on the 2016 Packers was special teams and special teams only. For the Packers’ purposes last season, that was just fine.

Teams need willing, athletic players on their special teams units, and Tripp is both of those things. Though he lacks overwhelming athleticism, he is an explosive leaper and he has excellent short area quickness.

At 6-3 and 234 pounds, Tripp fits the mold of the Packers’ other inside linebackers, and if he’s able to more fully integrate into the defense, he could be worth another look next season. Even if he’s only a special teams player, Tripp could be a contributor for future Packers teams.
