Week 14 Picks - The Peaking Packers
A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about what I thought would be the ultimate demise of the 2024 Green Bay Packers. The general thinking was that this year’s team had been essentially “solved,” and we were just waiting to see if and when some other team implemented the solution that doomed the Packers in the playoffs.
I still think that’s true. I still think this year’s Packers team is basically a solved equation. But the way I characterized it when I wrote that previous post was the negative version of that take.
There’s another way to look at a “solved” team: they could very much be a team that’s hitting their stride and is getting ready to reach the peak of their potential.
If we know the positives and negatives about the Packers and have a good idea what they’re capable of doing at this point in the year, it stands to reason that they have a pretty strongly established team identity. Yes, that can involve having a good grasp on how they can be beaten, but it also can mean that we know exactly what this team is capable of doing to attack other teams, too.
In short, the Packers have answered the questions about themselves and may be peaking at just the right time to make a playoff push and build momentum with what will be the final version of this team.
