Meet Mr. Perry
Before I tell you a bunch of things that may or may not be true about the latest addition to the Green Bay Packers, I must report that Operation Cone of Silence was a complete success. Due to a board meeting I had to attend for work, I missed the opening of the NFL Draft. However, at exactly 7 pm, I shut off my phone and resolved to not look at the internet or discuss anything with anyone until I had a chance to watch the draft for myself. And that's exactly what I did. At 9:22 pm, I sat down on my couch with a large buffalo chicken pizza from Papa John's (delicious) and a root beer and proceeded to watch the DVR'ed NFL Draft. It was sweet because I could fast forward through all the parts that involve anyone but Roger Goodell talking!
So anyhow, Nick Perry. He's on the Packers now. I could spend a bunch of paragraphs talking about how great a fit he is for the Packers or how this clearly was a pick they needed because of their anemic pass rush and all that, but you can hear that anywhere. No, this is where you come to really go deeper. This is where you want to read the hard hitting stories. This is where you want to find out stuff that you never thought you knew. So let's get to know some of the pros and cons of Nick Perry...which probably have a dubious amount of truth to them.
Pro - Not Brad Jones.
Con - Has never sacked an NFL quarterback.
Pro - Played at USC under Pete Carrol, so he understands what it's like to get paid to play football.
Con - Will be expecting far less money than he should.
Pro - Large and fast with the appropriate athletic skill set to play NFL football.
Con - So is everyone else in the NFL. Except Jarret Bush.
Pro - Knows how to get to the quarterback.
Con - Just had his name and face plastered all over national TV, so they'll be expecting it.
Pro - Will get to learn from all-time great pass rushing linebacker Kevin Greene.
Con - Probably doesn't have the hair to measure up to Greene's standards.
Pro - Caught 14 passes for 310 yards and eight touchdowns as a senior in high school.
Con - Packers run virtually no passing plays for linebackers.
So there you go. That's all you need to know about Nick Perry, Green Bay's latest star player.
