Meet the NFC North Offense
Last week we introduced our new, consolidated NFC North team. We’ve got our coaching staff and branding in place. Now we’ve got to put some players on the field.
Who to choose? Who indeed. This process was even trickier than I thought it would be, since we’re trying to make something relatively cohesive rather than putting together an all-star team. That means we can’t just load up with tons of extras at a given position — we’ve got to leave some space for defense!
I built the offense on the assumption that we’re going to be playing 11 personnel as our base (one tight end, one running back, and three wide receivers); the players we classify as “starters” and “backups” will reflect that.
Since I figure we’ll need more bodies for defense, we’re going with 24 players on offense. That leaves us 26 for the other side of the ball and three for special teams. Yep, we’re even going to pick the longsnapper for our new franchise.
But that’s enough stalling. Who’s going to actually be on this team?
