Every backfield can benefit from having different kind of backs to implement in different situations. Big, powerful backs dominate near the goal line. Small, shifty backs are best in the open field.
Read MoreIt feels nice to finally say that I am pleased with the running back situation in Green Bay. With the top four backs healthy (fingers crossed) in Eddie Lacy, James Starks, Jonathan Franklin and DuJuan Harris, it seems like the spots on the final roster are set. But those aren't the only backs on the current, 90-man roster. There are still three other backs working their tails off to make the "Final 53." Let's meet them, shall we?
Read MoreEverything tends to look rosy before the grind of the regular season begins. No position on the Packers' roster greater exemplifies this phenomenon than running back, where the Packers presumably have a solid backfield in the works.
Read MoreEarlier this week, we briefly explored the possibility that Aaron Rodgers' career is very likely closer to the end than to the beginning. Though it may not be quite as scary to think about, I think it's important to realize that the same may be true for the architects of the Packers' on-field success, Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy.
Read MoreAfter a second straight post-season loss to the 49ers back in January, I don't think I've ever seen more Dom Capers hate from my Facebook feed.
Read MoreAt some point, Aaron Rodgers will be old. Today is not that day, but we're standing at the precipice of the season in which Aaron Rodgers will turn 31 years old.
Read MoreWriting voluminous amounts of words about a guy who hasn't played a down yet in the NFL seems to be the thing to do this week, so who am I to judge? Here are my thoughts on Colt Lyerla.

Read MoreAs is our custom, The Packer Perspective does not hand out draft grades. At least, not based on the results of draft weekend alone. We only hand out grades based on production on the field, and that evaluation only comes five years after a class is drafted.
Read MoreHorror of horrors, the Packers gave somebody else the number 80.
Read MoreHere's some piping hot analysis for you: the Packers drafted three times as many wide receivers this weekend as any other position. Davante Adams, Jared Abbrederis, and Jeff Janis are all aboard and ready to catch passes and do whatever else it is that wide receivers do in their free time.
Read MoreIn a way, I suppose it's a good thing that I can't put this weekend's draft and subsequent acquisition of undrafted free agents into a neat little box, like, say, assigning the Packers a letter grade for their performance. It's hard to evaluate a thing that just happened based on how it could play out in the future. Obviously, there's a ways to go for this group of guys.
Read MoreIn the end, there was no trade up, there was no C.J. Mosely, there was no defensive lineman popping up out of the blue.
Read MoreIf you haven't followed the Twitter handle @Adv_NFL_Stats yet, you've done yourself a disservice. Brian Burke, a former Navy pilot turned stats analyst, has probably come up with the most impressive analysis of the NFL Draft that I've ever seen, and I've read more than 150 mock drafts since February.
Read MoreIt took an extra two weeks to get here this year, but the 2014 NFL Draft is finally upon us! A huge thanks to all of our readers for sticking with us through all 13 volumes of our Draft Digest posts. I know it may have felt grueling at times, but thankfully it all finally becomes reality live from Radio City Music Hall, and all our questions will finally be answered!
Read MoreThe NFL Draft is coming up fast, but before any stars are born playing on Sundays, everybody has to go through the meat market that is college football. Neither Tramon Williams or Jordy Nelson were terribly highly recruited coming out of college, but each has carved out a successful NFL career. How'd they do it? Here are their stories in their own words.
Read MoreIn my day job as a mild-mannered news reporter (as opposed to my night job as a mild-mannered sports blogger), I did a report today on some of the history between the Packers and Seahawks.
